LeClaire, Iowa: Mrs. Rebecca Proudfoot died January 2nd at her home in LeClaire township, 10 miles northeast of Davenport. She was born in Maryland on 14 Oct 1805 and when young, moved with her parents to Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania, where she lived until her marriage to Richard Proudfoot in May 1825. After living in Pennsylvania for some years, they came to Iowa in May 1861 and located on the place where she died. She was the mother of 10 children, 5 of whom survive: 3 girls and 2 boys. She was a member of the Baptist Church. The funeral was January 4th at the Zion Baptist Church with burial in the Zion Cemetery. Mrs. Eliza Douglas of Cheyenne(Wyoming) is a daughter of the deceased.
